Dr. Shouq Alashmali is a consultant in clinical nutrition and an associate professor in the Department of Clinical Nutrition at the College of Applied Medical Sciences, King Abdulaziz University.
She is a certified obesity operations educator by Obesity Canada and holds a master's degree in human nutrition from the University of Manitoba in Canada. Dr. Al-Ashmali received the third-place award for her master's research from the Canadian Nutrition Society.
She earned her Ph.D. in nutrition from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, ranked as the number 1 university in Canada. Her doctoral research was nominated among the top 8 studies by the Canadian Nutrition Society in 2018.
Dr. Alashmali was selected as one of 20 Ph.D. students worldwide to study at the Nutrition and Brain Functions Center at the University of Bordeaux in France in 2016, receiving a scholarship for her studies.
Her doctoral research was nominated among the top 10 studies at the International Nutrition Conference held in Dubai in 2019. She serves as a reviewer for practical research in various international nutrition and brain function journals, including "Brain Communication," "British Journal of Nutrition," and "Trials."
With over 15 published research papers, she also co-authored a book (over 250 pages) as a contributing editor on the role of therapeutic nutrition in gastrointestinal disorders, collaborating with 10 doctors and specialists in clinical nutrition.
Dr. Alashmali has presented scientific research at more than 20 conferences in the United States, Canada, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Alashmali is an active speaker across multiple social media platforms, where she shares evidence-based content on clinical nutrition. She has appeared on several television and radio programs to discuss current topics in health and nutrition
